The Peoples Democratic Party has described Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala as the most suitable of all the aspirants to the Presidency of the World Bank and urged Africa and the world to support her.

In a statement in Abuja by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, the Party described Dr. Iweala as a global citizen whose critical roles in global financial circles have positioned her as an eagle on the tallest iroko in contest for the leadership of the world apex financial institution.

I will embark on Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebirth Agenda – Tukur

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has said that his administration will spend more in pursuing his Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebirth agenda.

The Chairman made this statement yesterday in Birnin Kebbi capital of Kebbi state during the campaign tour of the party in support of the reelection bid of Alhaji Saidu Dakingari, former governor of Kebbi state.

Let me begin by saying that in the contest that has just been concluded for the national leadership of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, we are all winners. There are no losers. 

INAUGURAL ADDRESS BY THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN 

We have come to transform and build a great Party, not to play politics. 

We have come to help politicians play a decent politics, politics based on fairness and level playing field. 

We have come to be those neutral referees the PDP needs right now. 

We have come to ensure that both the executive and the legislature are on the same page – which is, to make Nigeria great economically, socially and politically. 

Our attention has been drawn to the unfair, unjust, uncouth and senseless remarks by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and a loose coalition of fringe parties under the auspices of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) wherein the outcome of our recently held National Convention came under criticism.

 Force Helicopter Crash: They Died for Nigeria

says PDP National Chairman 

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has expressed deep shock over the news of the tragic crash of the Nigeria Police Force Helicopter in which Deputy Inspector-General Haruna John, ACP Garba Yalwa, CSP Alexander Pwol-Ja and Sergeant Sonatian Shirunam lost their lives.

Why We Want to Screen Aspirants

Time-Table for Congresses and Convention 

RESOLUTIONS OF THE 58^TH EMERGENCY MEETING OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE HELD ON THE 20^TH FEBRUARY 2012. 

Gentlemen of the Press, 

The 58^th meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held today in an emergency session at the National Secretariat. 

2.         The meeting which witnessed a record attendance of NEC members had the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, (GCFR), the Vice President, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo, (GCON), the Senate President, Senator David Mark, the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, numerous State Governors, and other distinguished members of NEC in attendance. 

3.         NEC congratulated the Governors of Adamawa, Bayelsa, Sokoto and Kogi States over their victories in the recently conducted elections and urged Party members to rally around our candidate in Cross River State whose election comes up on Saturday, 25^th February 2012. 

4.         You will all recall that the Party had to postpone earlier arrangements for Congresses due to the sudden ruling by the Supreme Court on tenure of Governors in five States. Following this ruling, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled elections which concided with our earlier advertized dates. We therefore had to suspend our preparations and concentrated on winning back those States. 

5.         In view of the above, and in full demostration of the determination of the current National Executive Committee to ensure a smooth transition, the following time-table was approved:- 

 6.         NEC also unanimously approved a slight extention of tenure of the current National Executive Committee to terminate at the end of March 2012. Similarly, NEC approved that the tenure of office of Ward, Local Government, States and Zonal Executive Committees terminate in line with the revised timetable for Congresses and National Convention. 

7.         NEC mandated the National Working Committee to constitute National Convention and Congresses Planning Committees to oversee the conduct of Congresses and National Convention. 

8.         The next regular meeting of the National Executive Committee shall take place on the 29^th of February 2012 before the commencement of Ward Congresses.
